Mecca Agreement; A Deterrent That Has Done Nothing Against Sana'a 🔹As the military clashes in Yemen increase and attacks on targets deep within Saudi Arabia expand, discussions about the Mecca defense agreement and the potential activation of its mechanisms have resurfaced. 🔹The agreement was signed last month between Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, under which member parties have committed to mutual defense against external attacks. The question now is whether the escalation of Ansar Allah's attacks could push Riyadh to operationalize this agreement and bring two other regional military powers into the Yemen war. 🔹The ground reality indicates that Ansar Allah does not perceive this agreement as a serious barrier to action against Saudi Arabia. Sana'a has not only refrained from direct attacks on Saudi targets but has also determined the timing and level of its responses according to its own calculations. This issue demonstrates that the initiative in determining the point of escalation remains important for Sana'a.
