What is the latest situation regarding the "Ali al-Tahir" hills in southern Lebanon? ▪️ Is Israel at ease concerning the continuation of the battle? 🔹 Seyyed Reza Sadral-Hosseini, an expert on international issues, spoke about the recent situation concerning the "Ali al-Tahir" hills in southern Lebanon, where significant attempts have been made by the Zionists to occupy it in recent hours and days. He stated that the "Ali al-Tahir" hill has a notable geographical and military position, as from its heights one can oversee a significant part of the Nabatieh region and the city of Nabatieh. Additionally, its proximity to certain areas of the occupied territories is not that far; thus, this region could be used for some firing and operations by Hezbollah. 🔹 He continued, however, what has increased the importance of this hill in recent months beyond its inherent position has been the repeated attempts of the Zionist regime to occupy it and their failures in achieving this goal. Israeli forces have used a very heavy volume of fire to dominate this area, including severe bombings, missile attacks, and artillery fire in close proximity and in a pinpoint manner; however, despite this volume of fire, they have faced serious difficulties in achieving their objective. 🔹 This regional expert noted that this issue has created a specific image in the media and propaganda regarding the strategic importance of the Ali al-Tahir hill. In these narratives, claims have emerged about the existence of a vast network of tunnels, the deployment of strategic weapons, and even the presence of special forces beneath these heights. 🔹 Mr. Sadral-Hosseini stated, "The reality on the ground is significantly different from this propagandistic image," and added, "Despite the heavy fire from the invading Israeli forces, the number of Lebanese resistance forces responsible for guarding this hill has been limited, and beneath it, contrary to the media embellishments, there is not a significant quantity of strategic weapons nor any special forces in the dimensions that the Israeli media suggests." 🔹 He continued by saying that thus, one should expect that if the military forces of the Zionist regime eventually succeed in entering the hill or some of its tunnels, this action will be accompanied by extensive media coverage and propaganda, and the Netanyahu government will seek to exploit it in the political and electoral arena. 🔹 This regional expert went on to say, "The entry of Israeli forces into the tunnels beneath the hill is also accompanied by serious considerations and concerns on the part of the regime," and noted that in the military narratives of Israel, the potential presence of special forces or even Iranian forces in this area has been discussed, and there is also the perception that the entrances to the tunnels might be booby-trapped, rigged with various explosives. This assessment turns a direct entry of forces into the tunnels into a very risky operation. 🔹 Mr. Sadral-Hosseini continued by highlighting another important factor, which is the geographical situation of the surrounding heights. Two hills on either side of the Ali al-Tahir hill overlook this area and can provide the possibility of heavy fire against any forces that intend to establish themselves on the hill or enter its tunnels. Therefore, even the entry of Israeli commandos into this area will not signify the end of the threat against them; as the possibility of returning fire from the nearby heights still exists. 🔹 He emphasized that in the final analysis, one must consider a historical and strategic point as well. When the Lebanese Hezbollah began its efforts to resist the occupation and maintain the territorial integrity of Lebanon, the Israeli forces were present in the streets of Beirut; however, subsequently, the bulk of the occupied territories of Lebanon were liberated through resistance and at a cost. 🔹 This expert on regional issues concluded by stating that therefore, the accumulated experience of Hezbollah demonstrates that even the potential occupation of a geographical point like the Ali al-Tahir hill should not be assessed in isolation or as the final result of the battle. The battlefield developments following the potential occupation of these heights and the type of response from the resistance could again change the equation and shape conditions in favor of the Lebanese people and to the detriment of the Zionist regime.
