Dr. Mohsen Rezaei and the Society’s Expectations

Dr. Mohsen Rezaei and the Society’s Expectations Saeedollah Zarai, a strategic issues expert, wrote in a special note for Tasnim News: ▪️ The appointment of Brigadier General Dr. Mohsen Rezaei as one of the two representatives of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, and as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council of Iran by the esteemed President, naturally raises expectations. ▪️ These expectations stem from the understanding the people have gained over more than forty years regarding him and the various responsibilities he has held during this time; responsibilities that portray him as an insightful figure, active in the field of execution. ▪️ We recognize Mr. Mohsen Rezaei during this nearly five-decade period through the following characteristics: 1⃣ Successful management in the military sphere and the ability to guide the country through military-security crises. In this area, he is seen as a strategic individual, possessing coherent military thought, capable of capacity-building for military governance, and with the power to organize diverse forces and encourage creativity; 2⃣ The ability to collaborate with various governments, resilience in the responsibilities assigned to him, adaptability to different managerial conditions, and the ability to build consensus in institutions whose composition he has not created and must persuade different individuals and ideas to mobilize towards a common goal; 3⃣ Expertise in economic matters, possessing solutions for managing the economy and sparking momentum, and the capability for local transformation within the existing structures. It is hoped that he can harness the diverse capacities of this land through economic planning to solve the economic problems of the country and its cherished people; 4⃣ Patience is one of the essentials of political conduct; as the Commander of the Faithful said: "The tool of leadership is the breadth of the heart." Dr. Rezaei has demonstrated this patience during the eight years of the Holy Defense and the two years before that, as well as during his years of presence in the Expediency Council, as Deputy of Economic Affairs under Martyr Raisi’s government, and as Secretary of the Supreme Council of the System. Therefore, it is hoped that he can foster unity of opinion in the institution he currently leads, which is regarded as the highest consensus institution of the country; such unity is considered the first condition for the success of this institution in deploying solutions to pursue the lofty goals of the country; 5⃣ Another of his characteristics is his ability to analyze events and sensitive conditions, predict significant occurrences, identify the capacities of the country to take advantage of opportunities arising from events ahead, raise alarms for public awareness, and prevent surprise, as well as to provide solutions for the country's difficulties; 6⃣ Mr. Mohsen Rezaei has a good ability to persuade public opinion. As we have seen, in recent years, especially the past year, when the country was largely faced with a lack of sound strategic and reassuring analyses for the people, he was one of the most active and engaging figures in explaining the conditions and has sought media presence more than any other military figure. ▪️ At the same time, it should be noted that he has not been appointed as the commander of a specific institution; rather, he is the secretary of a high and consensual body in the security field. His success in managing an institution with these characteristics relies on "collective will and work"; although he also plays a significant role in forming this will and collective work. ▪️ The country currently faces two fundamental issues: first, "managing the war and bringing about a fair and victorious end to it," and second, "the accumulated economic problems," which are not devoid of security implications and have become chronic problems in some areas. ▪️ The Iranian people, and naturally the Supreme Leader, expect him to take practical action to manage these two sensitive arenas; of course, within the framework of the inherent competencies of the Supreme National Security Council and the urgent missions entrusted to it. Undoubtedly, the realization of this matter requires sufficient authority and reasonable trust. ▪️ His simultaneous appointment as the representative of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and as Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council by the esteemed President marks a good omen at the beginning of this responsibility.
