U.S. Destroyer Disabled in the South China Sea CNN: 🔹The USS Benfold missile destroyer lost all power for 4 days in the South China Sea due to a generator failure on 24 July. 🔹The 300-member crew was without efficient restrooms, air conditioning, kitchen, or water systems in the intense heat. 🔹The ship remained without buoyancy until tugboats towed it to Subic Bay in the Philippines, where its power was restored six days later. 🔹This is the second U.S. destroyer this year to suffer a malfunction in the Indo-Pacific region.
