The Hormuz Lie of Trump Leaked 🔹While the company assisting the United States in sanctioning Iranian oil shipments, TankerTrackers, states, "Only Iranians are capable of conducting ship-to-ship oil transfers in the Strait of Hormuz," this same company wrote last Tuesday that approximately 25 million barrels of oil and petroleum products are being transferred through ship-to-ship operations, with these oils coming from all countries in the region "except Iran." 🔹For nearly 2 weeks, Americans have been announcing high figures for oil transiting through the Strait of Hormuz; even an Axios reporter claimed that about 16 million barrels of oil passed through this strait in one night, but last Friday, the HFR Institute announced that even CENTCOM is unaware that the oil statistics it is announcing "includes Iranian oil as well." However, just last night, a supertanker was destroyed by 2 sea mines on the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz. 🔹Now that news of the IRGC Navy's new capability in identifying ship-to-ship (STS) transfers in Hormuz has circulated in Western media, the U.S. Treasury, which claimed that 9 million barrels of oil are passing through the strait with U.S. assistance, today threatened maritime operators that if they pay fees or service costs to Iran, they will be penalized. 🔹While the Atlantic Council has stated in a report that the economic consequences of Iran using the Strait of Hormuz as a pressure lever "are not insignificant," political analyst Sakineh Dato also notes that the recent claims by U.S. officials regarding the smooth passage of ships in the Strait of Hormuz is "psychological warfare aimed at manipulating" the oil market. 🔹However, parliamentary representative Mohammad Mahdi Shahriari believes that with the Strait of Hormuz remaining closed and tensions escalating, the higher oil prices will benefit European and American governments since their revenues will increase from higher taxes. Yet, senior energy analyst Gregory Brew states that Trump’s lies about the Strait of Hormuz opening will not be beneficial for the oil world. 🔹The Middle East Institute says that the United States has long mistaken Iran for a rational actor with a low pain threshold; an actor sensitive to battlefield casualties and vulnerable to domestic unrest, thus coming to the negotiating table, but "each of these assumptions is incorrect."
