On Saturday, the Quds Force Headquarters released a statement saying that four terrorists were killed during a joint operation in Saravan. The operation involved the IRGC, the Intelligence Department, and the Law Enforcement Command. In addition to neutralizing the terrorists, the forces also seized weapons, ammunition, and explosives. The statement added that the number of terrorists killed could rise. Meanwhile, three security personnel were martyred during the operation, which continued until just before noon. The IRGC said the United States and the Zionist regime, having suffered a major defeat on the military front, had instructed terrorist groups to create insecurity in Sistan and Baluchestan Province to conceal their failures. We will continue to protect our national interests by all means. For a reaction to this resolution, we will follow the same principle,” Najafi told CGTN on Saturday. “We should see what would be the actual effects of such a resolution. In our view, there wouldn't be any actual effect by this resolution. But we will assess, and based on our assessment, we will react to that,” he added. “The access to all facilities existed before the attack, and it was the attack and the aggression against Iran which caused the current situation,” he noted. “So Iran should not be blamed for that. And claiming that Iran is not cooperating or breaching an obligation is technically and legally wrong and a false assumption,” he stated. The IAEA Board of Governors had approved a resolution proposed by the United States and three European countries, Britain, France, and Germany, with 23 votes in favor, three against, and eight abstentions. Russia, China, and Niger voted against the resolution. The resolution, which repeats political allegations regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, calls on the IAEA Director General to refer Iran’s case to both the UN Security Council and the General Assembly. He said the meeting on what is called the "1737 Committee's activity" is a clear abuse of the Council's procedure and authority. He said Iran's position is clear, continuous and formally registered in official correspondence with the Secretary-General and the Council president. Darzi said Resolution 2231 expired on 18 October 2025, and that from that date, all provisions, measures and restrictions related to the nuclear issue were permanently terminated. The full text of the letter by the Iranian envoy to the UN is as follows: In the Name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful No. 3037241 10 September 2026 I am writing to you with reference to the Security Council meeting held today, 10 September 2026, under the agenda item “Non-Proliferation (10218th meeting)”. The Islamic Republic of Iran categorically rejects the unfounded allegations and distortions leveled by certain members concerning its peaceful nuclear programme at this meeting, and wishes to place on record the following: 1. The meeting on the so-called work of the 1737 Committee is a blatant abuse of the Council’s procedure and authority. Iran’s position is clear, consistent, and firmly on the record, including in its official communications to the Secretary-General and the President of the Council. Resolution 2231 expired on 18 October 2025. As of that date, all nuclear-related provisions, measures, and restrictions were permanently terminated; the Security Council concluded its consideration of the Iranian nuclear issue, and the agenda item “Non-proliferation” was removed. Stating that the current equations in the region and between Iran and the United States remain complex, he described the scenario created by the US president, through his anti-Iran policies, as an absolute “double-edged sword” for the Americans.
