🌍 Iran urges UNESCO cooperation to restore cultural heritage damaged in war 📌 Tehran, IRNA – An official from Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism has called for strengthened international cooperation, particularly from UNESCO, to assess, document, and restore Iranian cultural heritage damaged in US attacks. Farhad Azizi Zelani made the remarks during a meeting with Lazare Eloundou Assomo, Director of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre, in Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, where they discussed the latest status of Iran’s cultural heritage and prospects for expanding joint cooperation. ​ The Iranian official outlined Iran’s main demands and expectations from the UNESCO World Heritage Centre regarding the use of the body’s technical, specialized, and international capacities, and called for the presence of international experts to assess the condition of Iranian monuments damaged in the recent war. ​ The UNESCO official, for his part, emphasized support for cultural heritage inscribed on the World Heritage List and announced plans to dispatch UNESCO representatives to assess the extent of the damage and to explore ways of providing support and cooperation. 📲 ​
