⚡️ Sirik wedding attack echoes tragedy of Minab schoolchildren: Iran 📌 Tehran, IRNA — Iran’s administration spokesperson, Fatemeh Mohajerani, says the recent US attack on the Sirik district in southern Hormozgan Province cannot be viewed separately from the earlier killing of schoolchildren in Minab, stressing that the United States, as the aggressor and initiator of the military action, should be held accountable for the tragedies. “In Kohestak, Sirik, a family had gathered to celebrate the beginning of a young couple’s life. Their home was brightened with the happiness of guests, the voices of children, and wishes of a young couple, but the US attack, in just several moments, turned the wedding ceremony into a scene of destruction, blood, and mourning,” Mohajerani said in a note published by Iran Farsi-language newspaper on Saturday. ​ The US targeted the wedding in Kohestak Port in Sirik County on Wednesday evening as part of new attacks on Iran over the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. ​ Iran closed the strategic waterway as part of self-defense measures on March 2, three days after the US and Israel launched their latest war against Iran. ​ On the first day of the aggression, they bombed Shajareh Tayyabeh Primary School in the southern city of Minab, killing nearly 170 people, mostly schoolchildren. ​ “Sirik cannot be viewed separately from Minab. The image of the school desks that should have been places where the children of this land learned and built their future has not yet faded from the memory of the Iranian people,” she wrote. ​ “In one place, a classroom was plunged into mourning; in another, a wedding home became a scene of grief. There is a clear thread connecting those school desks and this home: ordinary people becoming victims not on a battlefield, but in the midst of their everyday lives,” the official said, criticizing Washington over its claims of using precision weapons while refusing to accept responsibility for the consequences. ​ “How can anyone speak of the precision of military equipment while refusing to take responsibility for the lives lost? Even if the perpetrators of the attack describe it as a ‘mistake’ — which it certainly was not — that does not absolve the attackers of their legal and moral responsibility. Those who launch a military operation are obliged to answer for the consequences of their decisions and for the lives of civilians who fall victim to them,” the spokesperson noted. ​ She said that the Iranian government considers the killing of civilians in Sirik, as well as the deaths of Minab schoolchildren, a clear violation of humanitarian principles and international law, and will pursue the cases through legal and political channels. ​ Mohajerani also called on the international community and responsible institutions not to allow the lives of the Iranian people to become victims of double standards. ​ “Silence in the face of the killing of children and attacks on homes and schools will only serve to normalize violence and allow such tragedies to happen again,” she said. ​ “Sirik and Minab will remain etched in our memory — not only as symbols of the suffering endured by the Iranian people, but also as clear evidence of a responsibility that the United States and those behind these attacks cannot escape,” the spokesperson concluded. 📲 ​
