💬 Any assessment of Hormuz crisis ‘incomplete’ without addressing root causes: Iran’s UN envoy 📌 London, IRNA - Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva has warned that any assessment of the economic and developmental consequences of the Strait of Hormuz crisis would be incomplete without addressing its root causes, which he attributed directly to US and Israeli military aggression. Speaking at a high-level meeting of the UNCTAD Trade and Development Board titled “The Impact of Developments in the Strait of Hormuz on Developing Countries,” Ali Bahreini said, “The current situation is a direct result of the illegal military aggression by the US and the Zionist regime against the Islamic Republic of Iran.” ​ Bahreini also pointed to efforts by Iran and Oman to facilitate the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, saying the two countries have made extensive efforts to finalize necessary arrangements and will continue to do so. ​ He further warned that the crisis’s effects could spread through trade, energy, food, and other economic channels, and called on UNCTAD to give due attention to the cumulative impact of unilateral coercive measures on development and economic resilience. 📲 ​
