On a visit to Islamabad to attend the 6th meeting of the Executive Committee of the ECO Science Foundation, Hossein Simaee Sarraf told IRNA that despite the many commonalities between Iran and Pakistan, academic and scientific cooperation has not yet reached a desirable level. During meetings with Pakistani officials, scholarships for Pakistani students as well as faculty and student exchange programs between the two nations have been proposed, the minister said. The Iranian official also expressed gratitude for the stance and support of the Pakistani government and people toward Iran during the recent aggressive acts by the United States and Israel. Iran currently holds the rotating presidency of the ECO Science Foundation, and during the upcoming 6th meeting of the foundation’s Executive Committee, the presidency will be handed over to Pakistan.
