Speaking to an IRNA reporter late on Monday, Baqaei made the clarification regarding published reports on Iran–US negotiations were merely speculations, noting that such accounts had no basis in reality. He acknowledged that a meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly between Iranian and Qatari delegations in the afternoon, in which the mediator’s views and assessments were received, alongside discussions on the latest regional developments. Baqaei stated that the Iranian side also conveyed its observations to the Qatari counterpart, emphasizing the Islamic Republic’s resoluteness and steadfastness in defending its national interests against any excessive demands or aggression, similar to its consistent participation in diplomatic processes in good faith. Last week, Iran explicitly set out its conditions to the United States for resuming the diplomatic process in indirect messages through the Qatari mediator. The conditions included a halt to US acts of aggression — including the maritime blockade and economic terrorism — an end to the war on all fronts, the release of frozen assets, and acceptance of safe shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz, as agreed upon between the two littoral states of Iran and Oman.
