📄 Iran's interior minister visits Pakistan to follow up agreements, strengthen ties 📌 Tehran, IRNA – Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni has travelled to Islamabad for an official visit aimed at holding talks with Pakistani officials on bilateral cooperation. Speaking upon his arrival in Islamabad on Monday, Momeni said that a key objective of his trip is to strengthen bilateral relations and follow up on the implementation of joint agreements, particularly those signed in June during President Masoud Pezeshkian’s visit to Pakistan. He said the developments in the region will also be discussed with Pakistani officials. Under one of the agreements between the two countries, bilateral trade, which currently stands at around $3 billion, should increase to $10 billion, he said. Momeni said plans for the expansion of trade also include the crossing of at least 2,000 trucks or shipping containers from the Iran–Pakistan border each day. The interior minister's delegation includes several senior officials from Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province, as well as representatives from Customs Administration and the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Petroleum, Industry, Mine and Trade, Economic Affairs and Finance, Agriculture, and Roads and Urban Development. After his visit to Islamabad, Momeni is scheduled to travel to Lahore, Pakistan's cultural capital.
