📄 Acting defense minister: Sanctions and wars accelerated Iran’s defense technology 📌 Tehran, IRNA – Acting Defense Minister Brigadier General Majid Ebnolreza says years of sanctions and recent military conflicts have accelerated Iran’s defense technological capabilities, enabling Iranian scientists and engineers to stand alongside the world’s leading technological powers. Speaking on Monday at a joint meeting between the Ministry of Defense and members of the Iranian Parliament’s Education, Research and Technology Commission, Ebnolreza described the US–Israeli wars launched over the past year as a turning point in Iran’s approach to advanced technology. According to the acting minister, Iran’s defense scientists faced some of the world’s most sophisticated military technologies during both the 12-day war in 2025 and the 40-day war this year, when, he said, the enemy employed the capabilities of leading global technology companies. Despite those challenges, he said, the Islamic Republic emerged successfully from the confrontation. Ebnolreza said much of Iran’s defense infrastructure had been established years earlier under the guidance of the martyred Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, and through the efforts of young experts and knowledge-based companies. The acting minister added that damaged capabilities were restored in a short time and that new technological and tactical innovations introduced during the conflicts caught the enemy by surprise. He described the defense industry as a key pillar of Iran’s national power and deterrence, saying the recent wars demonstrated that technological superiority is essential to overcoming geographical disadvantages in confronting adversaries. Ebnolreza said Iranian specialists had continued to advance despite sanctions and other restrictions, adding that even major technological powers had acknowledged the scientific capabilities and rapid learning of Iranian experts. 📲
